Lluest Horse and Pony Trust one of only two National Equine Welfare Council members in Wales. Founded 36 years ago in 1985 by the late remarkable Ginny Hajdukiewicz, Lluest has now rescued over 100’s of needy equines to date. Our mantra is rescue, rehabilitate and rehome – we strive to provide a place of safety to horses and ponies who have been victims of abandonment, cruelty, neglect or poor circumstance. Rehabilitated and cared for on our 40-acre farm in the Brecon Beacons.
To build on the vital work carried out at Lluest we are actively looking for 4 new trustees to join our Board. Individuals should have proven experience in one or more of the following:
- Equine/ Animal Welfare
- Land management
- Business background in particular:
- Understanding and/or experience at strategic level.
- Can ‘do the do’ as well as operate at Board level.
- Finance, governance, legal,
- Fundraising and grant applications,
- Strategic planning,
- Project management,
- PR & Marketing
- Charity management & governance
- HR
- Experience of working or volunteering in the third sector would also be advantageous.
The Role
- You will be expected to attend monthly Trustee meetings, currently held via Zoom – usually held in Carmarthenshire.
- Work together with other trustees to satisfy tasks, strategic objectives and the future development of the charity.
- Support the core Trustee team and the Chair in satisfying governance, treasury and Charity Commission responsibilities.
- You will be part of a team moving Lluest towards becoming a centre of excellence for equine rescue and a space where people can learn and gain a greater sense of self-worth through contact with horses and ponies in a biodiverse environment.
- You will be fully supportive of Lluest’s core aims and objectives, but you do not need to be an equine specialist.
Please note time commitment is not limited to monthly meetings.
Location: Currently meetings are run on Zoom although in future should be able to attend physical meetings in Carmarthenshire (Llangadog area) otherwise home based.
Lluest is governed by a small group of trustees and by joining the trustee board you would help to ensure that Lluest is well-governed and led strategically ensuring that we continue to have a proactive and positive impact of equine welfare in South Wales.
