In February and the start of March the charity’s funds fell to a critical level after paying unexpected large repair bills. The Trustees (directors) made an announcement on Facebook on the 7th March 2023 that Lluest was going to close after 38 years of rescuing and helping equines.
Following some critical short term fundraising, the staff and volunteers put together an initial successful rescue plan, which included a brand new board of Trustee’s to support the staff and lead Lluest into the future. We now all need to work hard to make Lluest sustainable and prevent this situation happening again in the near future.
We realise that these are difficult times for so many across the UK. Our life saving work cannot stop, we are needed more than ever!
Thank you so much for your support for Lluest and those who have already generously pledged a monthly gift. It is because of people like you that we survived the last 38 years, we need your help more than ever so we can continue our work for the most vulnerable equines across Wales.
Many people feel that Lluest and the hard work it does is vital and greatly needed in Wales, what they may not of realised is that our basic running costs are £10,000 a month, and is funded by donations, legacies and a limited number of successful grants. We are appealing to all of our friends and supporters to sign up to donate just £2 a month by standing order. Its the cost of a cup of coffee, or the loose change in your pocket but its a lifeline to a neglected pony in need.
If 5000 people donated £2 a month each we would be free to concentrate on the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of equines in desperate need of our help.
