Lluest Horse & Pony Trust Blog

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Equistro (http://www.equistro.co.uk) for donating a large box full of wonderful supplements to help our horses and ponies with special needs. For example, we have recently taken in a number of horses with serious liver problems and Equistro answered our plea for help.

"Equistro supplements are organic, specifically targeted formulations of the highest biological value, available in a comprehensive range of applications to ensure optimum flexibility for the discerning owner."

The Trust is currently overseeing the care of some ponies on a property where there are problems. We may be looking for homes for the ponies but there is also a goat a pig and a duck who may also need homes.

If you can offer any of these animals a home please contact Lisa in confidence on 01550 740661 or email Administration@lluest.co.uk.

Thank you

Wonderful supporter Nondus Banning-Boddy is running in the marathon at Llanelli on the 15th April 2012 in aid of the Trust.

Nondus has run many times for different charities and this time we are very lucky and grateful this amazing lady has chosen Lluest.

The demands on the Trust are ever growing as the economic downturn has seen the numbers of abandoned and starved horses increasing daily. As soon as we are able to send a horse or pony out on loan we fill that place from the list of horses and ponies like Miar in desperate  need of help.

People like Nondus make it possible for us to continue our work while coping with decreasing donations and rising costs.

Please help us show Nondus how much we all value her support by donating to her Just Giving Page.

Thank you Nondus!

January has been incredibly busy and our small team do not want to wish time away but we are all longing for the spring – as are the horses. We have all had enough of the mud!

The good news however is Sapphire and Poppet and Pudding have gone out to wonderful foster homes until the Spring and our gorgeous miniature horse Patchwork has gone out to start her new life in a  wonderful loan home where she is being ridden and loving it.

We have also taken in some new rescues. One very sad case that we cannot talk about  to protect him but the pony is here and safe now.
Another of our new rescues is Robbie.  This tiny tot of a pony stands at 28 inches high and was rescued before Christmas having been found by the side of a road in a very bad way.  As you can see this beautiful pony is well on his way to a full recovery.

It is 5 months since we rescued Snowball and he has stolen everyone’s hearts and deservedly so.

This little pony  has had to endure a lot of work and discomfort. He has been patient,  brave and not a moments trouble.  He will continue his four weekly trims well in to the new year but finally Snowballs quality of life is returning. Every day sees him a little bit more comfortable and able to walk properly.

Please read Snowball's story and latest updates on our Appeals page

Gwilym's Christmas has come early and he wants to thank Frank and Monica Ward for very kindly donating a new out door rug for him. THANK YOU!!!

20 years ago today on November the 5th Gwilym came to the Trust as a foal. The founder Ginny saved his life by keeping him warm and caring for him in the house.

Gwilym has never grown a proper mane, tail or coat due to the severity of his condition when he was rescued.
When Emma the manager started at the Trust in April 2010 she put Gwilym in a regular grooming and massage program and the difference in his coat is remarkable. It is not the normal texture you would expect BUT it is growing and his bald patches are now far and few between.
Gwilym is blind in one eye but he is as feisty as any youngster and remains a firm favorite with old and new supporters.

Having been given the all clear from the vets, we delivered Little Star to his new home today.

At approximately 12 years old Star has never bee in the company of other horses or ponies because he has been a stallion. Now he has been gelded and started to meet new friends in adjoining stables and paddocks he is ready to begin his new life.
Star has gone to a lovely experienced home who will take time to introduce him to their other Shetland and the bigger horses.
Re homing is definitely one of the biggest highlights of working in rescue!

Snowball and Angel are finally out of isolation and have stables in the main barn. They are also now  out of the garden because their feet are good enough to walk to a paddock! We are over the moon for both of them!
